Salt Lake City
The Pony Express in Salt Lake City, UT

The pony express was a great place to start. It was clean, very new and everything was paved so the kids could ride bikes around in circles. They have a lovely nature walk pathway that runs right outside of the park. I can't remember how long it is but I know it's many miles. It possibly goes down as far as Draper. The pool was great to have for the summertime. It was small, but the kids really enjoyed it. The laundry mat was right next to the pool, which was a major plus for us because I could throw in a load and then watch the kids slpash for a while. The downside of the park had to be their laundry facilities always being packed, there was usually a line, I don't think the machines worked very well and usually the dryers would need 2-3 cycles to dry things like pants.

Durango, CO

When we first arrived in Durango, we didn't know where to go. I used google maps to pull up RV parks near Durango and I instantly liked the Alpen Rose. The Alpen Rose is on the outskirts of Durango which makes it an ideal location if you're visiting this town. It was a smaller park but full of character. It is nestled right in the Mountains and the bear proof dumpsters should be a big clue that there is some serious wildlife around! They had an above ground pool with a deck built around it. The kids thought it was great. The facilities are kept meticulously clean. The laundry facilities were super. They had (I believe) eight washers and dryers. Which is a pretty good amount for the size of the park. They had a change machine, which was great but it did not like newer bills, unless you spoke sweetly to it(the machine). I'm serious. There was a sign that said "does not take colored bills" But a few times, after giving the machine a pep talk, it accepted my money. Many people who stay here, work at the park. So what this means is that most of the campers are helpful and also very watchful of the campground. Since we stayed there for almost a month it seemed like we were the only long time visitors who weren't working there. Either way, they we're very kind and the kids loved the smell of the pancake breakfast in the morning which is all you can eat and $5 each I think. They also loved getting popcorn from the office. My kids absolutely LOVE popcorn and were in the office everyday for their popcorn. It was pricey to stay their long term but I can see why it would be very desirable for a summer vacation.
